NEW ORLEANS—The Virginia men’s cross country team has moved up one spot, while the women continue to be ranked No. 1 in the region and No. 15 nationally in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings, the organization announced Tuesday (Sept. 18).

The Cavalier women have been ranked No. 1 in the Southeast Region throughout the preseason poll and the first two in-season polls, while the men have moved up each week. The men were No. 8 in the Southeast Region in the preseason poll, No. 5 a week ago and have moved up to No. 4 in the latest poll. The Cavalier men received 12 points in the national poll

UVa hosts the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational this Saturday at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va. The men’s race will feature four nationally-ranked teams, including No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 13 Syracuse, No. 21 Michigan and No. 22 Arkansas, while the women’s race will see teams from California, Kentucky, Oklahoma and Wisconsin compete. The women’s 5K race begins at 10 a.m., followed by the men’s 8K race at 10:30 a.m.
