Virginia Hosts Miami, No. 15 Florida State This Weekend

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The Virginia volleyball team hosts Miami on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m., and 2011 national semifinalist Florida State on Sept. 22 at 7 p.m., at Memorial Gymnasium.
Both matches will be streamed live online at VirginiaSports.com as part of Cavaliers Live, UVa’s live audio and video streaming offering. Live statistics will also be available through VirginiaSports.com.
Single-match general admission tickets are $5. Youth, senior and faculty/staff general admission tickets are $4 and group tickets (20 or more) are $3 per ticket. Fans can order tickets online at VirginiaSports.com and by phone through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office at 800-542-UVA1 (8821) or 434-924-UVA1 (8821). Tickets are also available at the gate beginning one hour prior to the start of each match.
Last weekend, Virginia (5-6, 0-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) went 1-1 at the Marriott Cavalier Classic, falling to Virginia Tech, 3-0, on Friday, before coming from two sets down to defeat Liberty, 3-2, on Saturday.
UVa sophomore Tori Janowski recorded a career-high 25 kills in a 3-2 victory over Liberty. Freshman Kayla Sears tallied a season-high 18 kills, while classmate Natalie Bausback earned 12 kills and nine digs.The Cavaliers played in front of a capacity crowd of 744 against Virginia Tech last Friday night.
The Hurricanes come to Charlottesville with a 9-2 record (1-0 ACC). Miami defeated UNLV and Middle Tennessee State before falling to Louisville.
Taylor Hollins leads the Hurricanes with 3.69 kills per set, while Nrithya Sundararaman directs the offense with 11.38 assists per set.
Miami leads the all-time series with the Cavaliers, 8-7, and won the last matchup, 3-0, on Oct. 28, 2011 in Miami, Fla.
The Seminoles come into the weekend with an 8-2 record (0-1 ACC) after going 2-1 at the Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup last weekend in Houston, Texas. FSU fell to Pepperdine, before defeating Houston and Ohio State.
Fatma Yildirim leads Florida State with 3.24 kills per set, while Ashley Neff leads the ACC with 1.60 blocks per set.
UVa trails the all-time series, 31-14, and the Seminoles won the previous match, 3-0, on Oct. 30, 2011 in Tallahassee, Fla.
Up next, the Cavaliers travel to Boston College on Thursday (Sept. 27) at 7 p.m., before competing at Maryland on Sept. 30 at 2 p.m.
