TULSA, Okla. – The Virginia men’s tennis team had a strong performance on the second day of qualifying at the ITA All-American Championships. The Cavaliers had one singles player and two doubles teams advance during Tuesday’s play at the Case Tennis Center.

First-year Mac Styslinger (Birmingham, Ala.) advanced to the final round of singles qualifying with a 6-3, 6-0 win over No. 28 seed Jonathan Brooklyn of Hawaii. He will play Eric Johnson of USC on Wednesday for a spot in the main draw.

In doubles qualifying, both Cavalier teams in the draw reached the third round. Styslinger and Alex Domijan (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) posted a pair of wins, downing the San Francisco pair of Will Schumacher and Tu in the first round and the team of Olivier Borsos and Tam Trinh from LSU in the second round, both by 8-3 scores.

Ryan Shane (Falls Church, Va.) and Jonathan Cornish (London, England) had a first round bye before defeating Clemson’s Austin Ansari and Hunter Harrington in the second round, 8-4.

Qualifying concludes on Wednesday with the final round of singles and the final two rounds of doubles. Main draw play begins Thursday.
