Virginia Continues Road Swing at Clemson, Georgia Tech This Weekend

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The Virginia volleyball team travels south this weekend for two Atlantic Coast Conference matches. UVa wil face Clemson on Friday (Oct. 5) at 8:30 p.m., before playing at Georgia Tech on Saturday (Oct. 6) at 7 p.m.
Virginia’s match with Clemson will be televised on the ACC’s Regional Sports Network (Comcast SportsNet in Virginia) and available on ESPN3.com. There will be a live webcast of the Georgia Tech match linked via VirginiaSports.com (subscription required, but Cavaliers Live subscribers can use their login to access the broadcast for no extra charge). Live statistics will be available for both matches and linked through VirginiaSports.com.
Last weekend, Virginia (5-10, 0-5 ACC) dropped two ACC matchups, falling 3-0 at Boston College on Thursday (Sept. 27), before dropping a four-set match at Maryland, 3-1, on Sunday (Sept. 30).
Sophomore Tori Janowski had her second triple-double on Sunday against Maryland, recording 16 assists, 12 kills and 12 digs. She becomes just the third Cavalier to record multiple triple-doubles. Dana Builteman had six, while Deanna Zwarich tallied two.
Janowski leads the Cavaliers with 3.21 kills per set and 18 service aces, while junior Emily Rottman averages 4.04 digs per set. Sophomore Morgan Blair leads the squad with 41 blocks.
The Tigers are 10-6 on the season (1-4 ACC) after falling to NC State on Saturday night.Moneshia Simmons leads Clemson with 3.75 kills per set, while Sandra Adeleye is hitting .358 with 3.44 kills per set.
The Yellow Jackets are 11-4 (3-2 ACC) after dropping two matches last weekend to NC State (3-2) and North Carolina (3-0).Georgia Tech is led by Bailey Hunter and Monique Mead, who average 3.70 and 3.68 kills per set, respectively.
Up next, the Cavaliers host North Carolina and NC State on Oct. 12 and Oct. 13, respectively. Both matches will begin at 7 p.m., at Memorial Gymnasium. Fans that attend the Virginia vs. Maryland football game can bring their ticket stub and receive free admission to the NC State match (subject to availability).
