Johnson City, Tenn. – The Virginia men’s golf team moved up one spot to second place following the second round of play at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate taking place in Johnson City, Tenn. The Cavaliers shot 2-under 286 Saturday for a two-day total of 6-under 570. They trail Tennessee by three shots heading into Sunday’s final round.

Senior Mac McLaughlin led Virginia during the second round with a 4-under 68. He moved into a tie for third place at 4-under 140 after carding an even par 72 Friday.

Denny McCarthy had the team’s second best score Saturday, shooting 2-under 70. He improved to 24th place at 1-over 145 along with teammate David Pastore. Ji Soo Park is in a tie for 16th place at even par 144, including a 73 Saturday. Nick Tremps is in 66th place at 153. He shot 82 during the second round.

Nick McLaughlin, playing as a non-scoring individual, is also tied for 16th at 144. He shot 72 for the second consecutive round.

Memphis’ Grant Milner will take a five-shot lead into the final round. He has shot 5-under 67 for second consecutive day to stand at 10-under 134 after 36 holes.
