CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Virginia men’s basketball team was picked to finish seventh in the Atlantic Coast Conference in a poll of media attending ACC Operation Basketball on Wednesday in Charlotte. The Cavaliers were also selected seventh in the ACC in the poll of the league’s coaches earlier this week.

N.C. State, the preseason favorite in the coaches’ voting, was also the pick of the media. The Wolfpack received 26 of the 53 first-place votes in Wednesday’s voting. Duke, who garnered 21 first-place votes, was second in the poll. North Carolina was third and was followed by Florida State, Miami, Maryland, Virginia, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Boston College.

The media’s Preseason All-ACC team was the same as the coaches’, consisting of Lorenzo Brown and C.J. Leslie of NC State, James Michael McAdoo of North Carolina, Mason Plumlee of Duke and Michael Snaer of Florida State. Leslie was the selection for Preseason ACC Player of the Year and N.C. State’s Rodney Purvis was the Preseason ACC Rookie of the Year.
