Charlottesville, Va. – The Virginia men’s golf team will play its final tournament of the fall this weekend when the Cavaliers travel to Alpharetta, Ga., for the seventh annual U.S. Collegiate Championship. The 15-team field will compete at the Golf Club of Georgia from Friday through Sunday, Oct. 19-21.

A total of 10 of the top 25 teams in the current Golfstat poll are included in the field. Georgia Tech, the host school, welcomes Auburn (ranked 40th), Clemson (28), Duke (15), East Tennessee State, Iowa, Kent State (18), Oklahoma State (22), Stanford (23), Southern California (4), Texas A&M (19), UCLA (8), Virginia, Wake Forest (21) and Washington (3). The Yellow Jackets are ranked No. 13.

All but one of the previous six winners are back for this year’s event – Clemson has won twice (2006, 2009), along with USC (2008) and UCLA, the defending champion. The Yellow Jackets captured the crown in 2010 by 28 shots over the Bruins.

Virginia’s lineup will feature Denny McCarthy, Ji Soo Park, Mac McLaughlin, Nick McLaughlin and David Pastore.
