CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia wrestling head coach Steve Garland has announced the addition of Nate Carr Jr. to the Virginia coaching staff. Carr will serve as a volunteer assistant coach for the Cavaliers.

Carr wrestled for two years at Iowa Central and was the 2007 junior college national champion at 157 pounds. He then transferred to Iowa State, where he was a two-year starter at 149 and 157 pounds. He earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and studies from Iowa State.

Carr was a three-time Georgia state champion and a high school All-American.

Virginia opens its 2012-13 season Nov. 3 when it plays host to a quad meet featuring Anderson, Chattanooga and Ohio.
