Alpharetta, Ga. – The Virginia men’s golf team stayed in fifth place after 36 holes of play at the 15-team U.S. Collegiate Championship taking place at The Golf Club of Atlanta in Alpharetta, Ga. The Cavaliers shot 6-over 294 for a two-day total of 13-over 589. UCLA leads the field at 4-over 580.

David Pastore led Virginia Saturday with a career-best score of 3-under 69. Pastore moved up to 11th place on the leaderboard at 1-over 145.

Denny McCarthy is in 29th place at 5-over 149 after shooting 77 during the second round. Mac McLaughlin and Ji Soo Park are tied for 40th overall at 150. Both players shot 2-over 74 during the second round. Nick McLaughlin, who led the team after the first round with a 71, dropped back to 63rd after a second round 84. He stands at 155 after 36 holes.

Oklahoma State’s Talor Gooch continues to lead the field in stroke play at 5-under 139.

The 15-team field includes 10 teams currently ranked in the top 25 of the Golfstat rankings.

The final round will take place Sunday with live scoring online at Golfstat.com.
