UVa Men's Golfers Wrap Up Fall with Fourth-Place Finish at U.S. Collegiate

Alpharetta, Ga. – The Virginia men’s golf team wrapped up the fall portion of is schedule with an impressive fourth-place showing at the U.S. Collegiate Championship at The Golf Club of Atlanta in Alpharetta, Ga. The 15-team field included 10 teams currently ranked in the top 25 of the Golfstat rankings.

Virginia shot 3-over 291 during Sunday’s final round for a three-day total of 16-over 880. Georgia Tech, ranked No. 12, won the event at 10-over 874. UCLA, ranked No. 7 was second at 875 while fourth-ranked USC was third, one shot ahead of the Cavaliers.

Sophomore Ji Soo Park led the Cavaliers during the final round with a career-best round of 4-under 68. He posted the first top-10 finish of his career, placing ninth at 2-over 218. Park opened the tournament with a 76 and shot 74 Saturday. His tournament score matched the best performance in his collegiate career.

Denny McCarthy and David Pastore tied for 20th at 4-over 220. McCarthy shot 1-under 71 Sunday while Pastore finished with a 3-over 75.

Mac McLaughlin was 56th at 227 including a 77 in the final round. Nick McLaughlin shot 79 to finish 68th at 234.

Patrick Rodgers of Stanford used a final round 67 to win medalist honors at 7-under 209.

Last year Virginia placed 13th at the tournament with McCarthy turning in a team-best finish in 49th place.
