Virginia Wins Two Races at Princeton Chase

PRINCETON, N.J.—The Virginia rowing program continued its fall season Sunday (Oct. 28), winning two races at the Princeton Chase on Lake Carnegie in Princeton, N.J.
The Cavaliers captured the Varsity Eight title in a time of 13:41.434, more than 17 seconds ahead of second-place Princeton (13:58.535). UVa defeated boats from Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Syracuse and Yale. The V8 was the top collegiate boat in the Championship Eights at the Head of the Charles on Oct. 21.
Virginia’s 2V8 finished ninth in 14:23.759 and was the second-best “B” crew in the race. UVa also placed 22nd (14:52.474) and 44th (15:35.362) in the 55-crew head race.
In the Novice Eights, the Cavaliers finished in 15:14.082 to claim first place ahead of Cornell, who was second in 15:28.197. UVa also had a second boat in the race that placed 10th in 17:18.539.
Up next, the Cavaliers will host the Rivanna Romp on Nov. 11 at the Rivanna Reservoir in Earlysville, Va.
