Cavaliers Host Virginia/Panorama Farms Open Saturday

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-The Virginia men’s and women’s cross country teams host the Virginia/Panorama Farms Open Saturday morning in Earlysville, Va. The women’s 5K race is scheduled for 10 a.m., while the men’s 5K is slated for 10:30 a.m.
Individuals who would like to compete on Saturday can sign up between 7:30-9 a.m. at Panorama Farms. Entry fee is $20 for an individual and $5 for college students (college student ID required). Admission is free to Virginia home cross country meets.
Last time out, the men finished second at the Atlantic Coast Conference Cross Country Championships Saturday (Oct. 27) in Blacksburg, Va., while the women placed sixth. Graduate student Zach Gates (Fishers, Ind.) and redshirt freshman Kyle King (Yorktown, Va.) crossed the line fourth and fifth overall, respectively, while freshman Connor Rog (Fairfield, Conn.) earned the ACC Freshman of the Year honor for being the top true freshman finisher (18th overall). Graduate student Catherine White (Roanoke, Va.) was the runner-up on the women’s side.
The Cavaliers return to action Nov. 9 for the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships in Charlotte, N.C. The women’s 6K starts at noon, while the men’s 10K takes place at 1:15 p.m.
