Volleyball Hosts Maryland and Boston College in Final Home Matches

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The Virginia volleyball team hosts two Atlantic Coast Conference games this weekend. The Cavaliers face Maryland on Friday (Nov. 9) and Boston College on Saturday (Nov. 10). Both matches will be played at Memorial Gymnasium and begin at 7 p.m.
Fans who attend Saturday’s UVa football game against Miami can bring their ticket stubs and receive free admission to Saturday night’s volleyball match against Maryland (based on availability). Live statistics for both matches will be available through VirginiaSports.com.
Single-match general admission tickets are $5. Youth, senior and faculty/staff general admission tickets are $4 and group tickets (20 or more) are $3 per ticket. Fans can order tickets online at VirginiaSports.com and by phone through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office at 800-542-UVA1 (8821) or 434-924-UVA1 (8821). Tickets are also available at the gate beginning one hour prior to the start of each match.
Game-day parking for volleyball matches is available free of charge at the Culbreth Road Garage, located behind Carr’s Hill Field. Limited parking is available at the Central Grounds Garage (hourly rates apply).
Before Saturday’s match, the Cavaliers will honor their three seniors, Tobi Farrar, Rachel Gray and Jessica O’Shoney, who will play at Mem Gym for the final time in their UVa careers.
The Cavaliers (8-18, 2-13 ACC) went 1-1 last weekend, coming from behind to defeat Georgia Tech, 3-2, on Nov. 2 before falling to Clemson, 3-1, on Nov. 3 in Charlottesville.
UVa hit a season-high .390 in the five-set win over Georgia Tech. Freshman Kayla Sears hit .545 with 20 kills, while O’Shoney had a career-high 19 kills and four blocks. Junior Emily Rottman tallied a career-high 40 digs in the four-set loss to Clemson, the fourth-most in a single match in Virginia history.
The Terps are 14-13 on the season and 5-10 in ACC play after defeating Duke, 3-2, and Wake Forest, 3-1, last weekend.
Maryland leads the all-time series, 36-21, including a 3-1 win on Sept. 30 in College Park, Md.
The Eagles come into the weekend with a 10-17 record (4-11 ACC) and have lost eight matches in a row, including to Duke, 3-2, and Wake Forest, 3-1, last weekend.
Virginia leads the all-time matchup, 12-3, but BC won the last meeting, 3-0, on Sept. 27 in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Up next, the Cavaliers will travel to Tobacco Road next weekend to face NC State on Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. and North Carolina on Nov. 17 at 5 p.m.
