Aboushi Headlines Five Cavaliers on Inaugural Coaches All-ACC Team

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia football player Oday Aboushi was named to the inaugural Coaches All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) football first-team, as selected by the league’s 12 head coaches. Steve Greer was a second-team honoree, while Morgan Moses, Demetrious Nicholson and LaRoy Reynolds were named honorable mention selections. Aboushi and Greer were both first-team honorees on the media’s previously released All-ACC team, while Nicholson and Reynolds were also honorable mention nods.
Aboushi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned an early selection to the 2013 Senior Bowl roster, an honor as one of the top players in the country at his position. Aboushi graded out over 90 percent in all 12 games, including 97 percent against Miami and 94 percent against Penn State – UVa’s two come-from-behind victories that included game-winning TD drives in the closing minutes. He averaged 10+ knockdown blocks per game. A second-team All-ACC pick in 2011, Aboushi was also named the Touchdown Club of Richmond’s Offensive Lineman of the Year.
Greer (Solon, Ohio) is No. 2 in the ACC this year with 122 tackles and his 376 career tackles ranks No. 6 all-time at UVa. The senior ranks No. 1 among active ACC players in career tackles and Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o is the only active BCS player with more career tackles. Greer was twice named ACC Linebacker of the Week in 2012, following a 15-tackle performance against Penn State and a career-high 19-tackle game at Virginia Tech. Greer was named a second-team honoree in 2011 and an honorable-mention honoree in 2009. Greer is a finalist for the Dudley Award and for the second year in a row named the Touchdown Club of Richmond’s Linebacker of the Year.
Moses (Richmond, Va.) earns his first career All-ACC accolade. The junior helped UVa amass over 500 yards of total offense multiple times in a season for the first time since 2004 and was key in protecting UVa quarterbacks pass for a program record 480 yards in a game against Louisiana Tech.
Nicholson (Virginia Beach, Va.) tied for the ACC lead in pass breakups with 15. The sophomore was a key member of one of the nation’s youngest secondaries that also held the nation’s No. 1 offense (Louisiana Tech) to its lowest offensive output (385) of the season.
Reynolds (Norfolk, Va.) is No. 6 in the ACC with 90 tackles, despite missing 2.5 of UVa’s 12 games with an injury. The senior concluded his career with a career day at Virginia Tech, amassing 15 tackles. In the seven games after his return from injury, Reynolds amassed 72 tackles, an average of 10.3 per game.
