CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia track and field teams announced their captains for the 2013 indoor and outdoor seasons on Friday. Catherine White (Roanoke, Va.) and Danielle Williams (Alexandria, Va.) are the captains of the women’s team and Sean Keveren (Brentwood, Tenn.) and Tommy DeVita (Ridgewood, N.J.) are the captains of the men’s team.

“They are incredible young men and women selected by their peers,” said head coach Bryan Fetzer. “I am confident that they will provide the leadership both on and off the track that our program needs to move forward.”

White, a graduate student distance runner, will not compete in indoor this season, but will compete in outdoor. She was a 2012 Outdoor All-American in the 10,000 meters. Williams, a senior sprinter, broke the indoor school record in the 200 meters last year. Keveren, a senior distance record, was a 2012 honorable mention Outdoor All-American in the 10,000 meters. DeVita, a junior high jumper, placed seventh in the event at last year’s ACC Indoor Championships.

The Virginia track and field teams will open the 2013 season on Saturday at the Terrapin Invitational in Landover, Md. Athletes from over 20 schools will be competing at the event, held at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex.
