CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The 11th-ranked Virginia wrestling team returns home Sunday for a 1 p.m. ACC dual with NC State at Memorial Gymnasium. Live results will be available on VirginiaSports.com.

A free youth clinic, conducted by the Virginia coaching staff, will be held from 10-11:30 a.m.

Admission is free for Virginia home wrestling matches at Memorial Gymnasium. Free parking is available in the Culbreth Road Garage. A Cavalier Team Shop table will be selling Virginia apparel throughout the match Sunday.

Virginia is 11-3 in the dual portion of its schedule, including a 2-1 mark in ACC competition. The Cavaliers rolled to a pair of ACC wins last week, winning at North Carolina, 24-9, before coming home and capturing all 10 bouts in a 38-0 shutout of Duke.

The NCAA released the first of three coaches’ panel rankings for the 2012-13 season on Thursday, and UVa was represented at nine of the 10 weight classes. The final rankings are one of the tools used as part of the selection process to determine the qualifiers for the 2013 NCAA Championships. Virginia’s wrestlers in the coaches’ panel rankings:

Six Cavaliers were ranked once again this week in the InterMat rankings, headed by seventh-ranked Nick Sulzer (R-So., Cleveland, Ohio) at 165 pounds. Matt Snyder (R-Sr., Lewistown, Pa.) is ninth at 125. The Cavaliers are also represented in InterMat’s top 20 by No. 13 George DiCamillo (Fr., Highland Heights, Ohio) at 133, No. 19 Derek Valenti (R-Sr., Newton, N.J.) at 149, No. 15 Jedd Moore (R-Sr., Mount Vernon, Ohio) at 157 and No. 17 Jon Fausey (R-Jr., Dalmatia, Pa.) at 174.

NC State (3-2, 0-1) has a young squad this year; only three of the 10 wrestlers in the Wolfpack’s probable starting lineup were members of the team last season. NC State’s Nijel Jones is ranked No. 20 this week at 165 pounds in the Amateur Wrestling News rankings.

Virginia wraps up ACC dual action next Friday (Feb. 1) at Maryland. The Cavaliers return home the following weekend for their final two home duals, as they take on Appalachian State (Feb. 9) and Old Dominion (Feb. 10).
