CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—Virginia’s men’s and women’s swimmers will host their final home meet of the season, the Cavalier Invite, Friday and Saturday (Feb. 15-16) at the Aquatic and Fitness Center in Charlottesville. The meet will have sessions of preliminaries and finals with action commencing at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday.

A partial Cavalier squad will be in action against select swimmers from Drexel, Duke, James Madison, Old Dominion, Pennsylvania and William and Mary.

Live results will be available and linked through VirginiaSports.com. Friday’s event schedule will see the 200 free relay, 200 IM, 500 free, 100 breast, 200 back, 100 free, 200 fly, 800 free relay and 400 medley relay events competed. The 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 200 free, 100 fly, 200 breast, 100 back, 50 free, 1650 free and 400 free relay will be contested on Saturday.

Admission to Virginia swimming and diving meets is free to the public. Because of construction near the Aquatic and Fitness, parking adjacent to the facility will be limited and parking rules will be tightly enforced. There will be a few metered spaces available at the AFC and free parking is available at Slaughter Recreation Center and the parking lot closest to the West Gate at Scott Stadium. Spaces designated for those individuals in possession of a disabled parking permit are located off Alderman Road on the west side of the Aquatic and Fitness Center.

Last time out, the Cavaliers swept Wisconsin and Virginia Tech Jan. 25-26 at the AFC. On the women’s side, Virginia defeated Virginia Tech, 214-151, and Wisconsin, 182-176. The Cavalier men were victorious against the Hokies, 202.5-167.5, and the Badgers, 185-163.

Juniors Jan Daniec (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and Caroline Kenney (Suwanee, Ga.) were named the ACC Male and Female Swimmers of the Week for their efforts. Daniec won the men’s 500 free, 1650 free and 400 IM, while Kenney captured the women’s 500 free, second in the 200 free and third in the 200 back.

Up next, the Cavaliers will compete in the 2013 ACC Championships in Greensboro, N.C. The women’s meet is Feb. 20-23, while the men’s meet will be held Feb. 27-March 2.
