CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – No. 16 Virginia ended its three-match losing streak with a 6-1 win over No. 29 Ole Miss in women’s tennis action Saturday afternoon at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.

The Cavaliers swept the doubles and won five of six singles matches to improve to 2-3 overall. Ole Miss falls to 2-4.

Virginia claimed the doubles point in convincing fashion as No. 5 Erin Vierra (Norwell, Mass.) and Maci Epstein (Winter Park, Fla.) defeated No. 39 Caroline Rohde-Moe and Marija Milutinovic 8-4 at No. 1 and Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) and Hana Tomljanovic (Boca Raton, Fla.) clinched the point with an 8-4 win over Mai El Kamas and Vief Vlaar at No. 3. Virginia’s Li Xi (Kunming, China) and Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas) completed the sweep with an 8-6 win over Erin Stephens and Julia Jones at No. 2.

Epstein made it 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Stephens at No. 4 singles. Jones put Ole Miss on the scoreboard with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Xi at No. 3.

Nauta beat El Kamash 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 and Vierra clinched the win with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Milutinovic at No. 5.

Caryssa Peretz (Cherry Hill, N.J.) added a 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 win over Vlaar in her first action of the dual season at No. 6 and No. 11 Elbaba completed the 6-1 win with a three-set win over No. 27 Rohde-Moe at No. 1.

The Cavaliers (2-3) return to action at Memphis (5-2) tomorrow at 11 a.m. ET.
