CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 9 Virginia women’s lacrosse team faces its sixth top-10-ranked opponent of the season, hosting No. 6 Duke (8-1, 1-1 ACC) on Saturday, March 23 at 1 p.m. at Klöckner Stadium.

Virginia has won three games in a row heading into the game while Duke is riding a four-game win streak. The Cavaliers, who have lost to No. 1 Maryland and No. 3 North Carolina, are looking for their first ACC victory of the season.

The Cavaliers come into the game after defeating No. 19 James Madison, 10-3, on Wednesday. Duke will be the second ranked opponent in a row faced by the Cavaliers. Virginia will be the third-straight ranked opponent for the Blue Devils. Duke is 2-1 against top-20 ranked teams but 0-1 against top-10 teams this season.

Virginia has already has a win over a No. 6 team this season as Loyola was ranked sixth when the two teams met in the season opener.

Virginia leads the all-time series against Duke, 19-10. The two teams split a pair of games in 2012 with UVa winning 14-12 in the regular season and Duke ending UVa’s season in an 11-9 NCAA Tournament first-round game in Durham. Virginia’s last win in Charlottesville over the Blue Devils was a 10-9 victory in the 2008 ACC Tournament, which was held in Scott Stadium. The Cavaliers last win over Duke at Klöckner Stadium was a 12-9 regular-season game in 2003.

Duke is second in the ACC in scoring, averaging 14.2 goals per game. Virginia averages 11.1 per game. Duke has scored 31 free-position goals this year in 59 attempts while Virginia has eight in 29 tries. Duke (7.56) and Virginia (7.11) are ranked No. 1 and 2 in the conference in saves per game.

Casey Bocklet (So., South Salem, N.Y.) is third in the ACC with a 2.67 goals-per-game average while Duke’s Kerrin Maurer is second in the ACC in points per game, averaging 4.44. Courtney Swan (So., Vero Beach, Fla.) is third in the ACC in draw controls (3.89 per game) while Duke’s Maddie Salamone ranks fourth (3.44). Swan has won five draw controls in each of her last three games.

Additionally, Bocklet is ranked fifth in assists per game (1.22) and fifth in points per game (3.89) as well as shots per game (5.56). Ashlee Warner (Jr., Corning, N.Y.) is tied for seventh in points per game (3.11).

Because of an event at John Paul Jones Arena on Saturday evening, please note the following parking arrangement. Parking will be available in the JPJ, University Hall, Cage and McCue lots until 5:30 p.m. These lots must be vacated by these times. After Duke, Virginia will embark on a three-game road trip. The Cavaliers will play a midweek game on Wednesday, March 27 at Old Dominion before traveling to Boston College for a game on Saturday, March 30 at 1 p.m. They close out the trip on Tuesday, April 2 at American at 4 p.m. in Washington, D.C.

The Cavaliers close out the regular-season with three home games against Northwestern (April 7), Johns Hopkins (April 11) and Virginia Tech (April 17).

Single-game tickets to Virginia lacrosse games are $8 (adult general admission) and $6 (youth, senior, faculty/staff general admission). Tickets may be ordered in person at Bryant Hall with a major credit card, by phone at (800) 542-8821 or online. Advance ticket sales end three hours prior to the game. Tickets are also available on game day at the Klöckner Stadium ticket windows, subject to availability, beginning one hour prior to the game.
