INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—The Virginia men’s swimming and diving team completed action on the first day of the NCAA Championships Thursday (March 28) at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The 400 medley relay of juniors Jack Murfee and Taylor Grey and seniors Matt Murray and Tom Barrett finished 22nd in a time of 3:11.65, while the 200 free relay of Barrett, sophomore Charlie Rommel, junior Parker Camp and Murray placed 25th in 1:19.31.

Junior Jan Daniec was 24th overall in the 500 free in a time of 4:18.97, while freshman Nick Alexiou (4:22.05) and junior Brad Phillips (4:22.24) were 37th and 38th.

Sophomore JB Kolod placed 26th on the 1-meter springboards with 289.15 points.

In the 200 IM, sophomore David Ingraham was 48th in 1:46.90, while freshman Luke Papendick was 53rd in 1:47.40.

The action continues Friday at 11 a.m. with the 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 fly, 3-meter diving and 800 free relay events being contested.
