Live statistics will be available and linked through VirginiaSports.com.

Senior pitcher Melanie Mitchell (White Plains, Md.) looks to set the program record for all-time wins. She is currently tied with Lisa Palmer (1986-89) at 74 career victories. In her last outing, Mitchell became the seventh ACC pitcher to record 1,000 career strikeouts.

This year, the senior ranks seventh in the nation and first in the conference with 177 strikeouts and has an 11-9 record with a 2.37 ERA in 139.0 innings pitched.

Junior Marcy Bowdren (Fairfax Station, Va.) ranks sixth in the ACC with a .372 batting average and is currently the 22nd-toughest batter to strikeout in the nation, averaging 31.3 at-bats between strikeouts.

After a tough February, the Cavalier bats awakened in the month of March, with Bowdren hitting a blistering .431 with 25 hits and 11 runs scored, both team highs. Senior Kristen Hawkins (Elizabeth, Pa.) hit .188 in February, but hit at a .341 clip in March with seven doubles, while junior Karli Johnson (Lovettsville, Va.) hit all of her team-leading five home runs in March.

George Mason is 9-21 (2-4 Colonial) on the season and defeated UNC Wilmington in two out of three games last weekend in Fairfax. GMU is led by Brooke Blankenship, who leads the team in hitting (.308), hits (28), doubles (9), home runs (2) and RBI (22). The Patriots have used five pitchers regularly this season with Anna Blessing (1-2, 1.75 ERA), Casey Herring (3-5, 3.38) and Christina Gabriele (2-6, 4.38) seeing the most action.

Last season, the Cavaliers defeated George Mason in their final regular season game, 5-1, at the Park on May 1, 2012.

Up next, UVa travels to Chapel Hill, N.C., April 6-7 for a three-game series at North Carolina. Saturday’s doubleheader and Sunday’s single game are slated for a 1 p.m. start. All three games will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
