CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s and women’s track and field teams had 14 athletes honored by the ACC Tuesday as the conference announced the 2013 All-ACC Academic Indoor Track and Field Teams. The Cavalier men and women each had seven honorees who were recognized for succeeding both academically and athletically.

To be eligible for All-ACC Academic Team consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during their academic career.

The Virginia men had four repeat honorees as distance runners Mark Amirault, Taylor Gilland and Thomas Porter, along with multi-event athlete Christian Lavorgna were all recognized for the second straight year. Pole vaulter Matthew Armentrout, distance runner Bryan Lewis and triple jumper Ryan Satchell were honored for the first time in their careers.

The women’s team had two repeat selections in sprinter Jordan Lavender and triple jumper Dallas Rose. Sprinter Peyton Chaney, middle distance runners Vicky Fouhy and Colette Gnade, distance runner Barbara Strehler and multi-event athlete Anna Finger received the accolade for the first time.

The Cavaliers will compete this week at the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The meet will run Thursday-Saturday on the campus of NC State.
