CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s and women’s track and field teams travel to Raleigh this week for the 2013 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The meet will be held Thursday through Saturday at the Paul H. Derr Track on the campus of NC State. Admission to the meet is free. Live results and streaming video coverage of the meet will be available at the ACC Championship website.

The Virginia women finished second and the men placed third at last year’s ACC Championships. Catherine White looks to defend her title in the women’s 10,000 meters. She is top seed in this year’s meet after she ran 33:07.36 at the Stanford Invitational, the fourth-best time in the nation this year. Payton Hazzard and Ozzie Bryanreturn from Virginia’s 2012 ACC Champion men’s 4x400m relay team.

The meet begins on Thursday with the women’s javelin, men’s and women’s discus and women’s pole vault, along with the start of the women’s heptathlon and men’s decathlon during the day. In the evening the track events will start with the preliminaries of the 400m hurdles, 200m, 1500m and the finals of the 10,000m.

Friday’s schedule features the conclusion of the heptathlon and decathlon, men’s javelin, men’s and women’s long jump, men’s and women’s shot put, men’s pole vault, the preliminaries of the 100m and 110m hurdles, 400m, 100m and 800m. The day concludes with the men’s and women’s 3000m steeplechase finals.

The meet concludes on Saturday with the finals of the 1500m, 100m and 110m hurdles, 400m, 100m, 800m, 400m hurdles, 200m, and 5000m, along with the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. The men’s and women’s high jump, men’s and women’s triple jump and men’s and women’s hammer throw are the field events on the final day.
