Complete List: IWLCA All Region Teams (pdf)

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s lacrosse team had three players earn Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association All-South Region honors with Casey Bocklet (So., South Salem, N.Y.), Megan Dunleavy (Sr., Fairfax Station, Va.) and Morgan Stephens (So., Olney, Md.) named to the second team.

The IWLCA honored 128 student-athletes in Division I with All-Regional selections for 2013. These athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-America teams, which will be announced on May 17. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on May 25, 2013 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.

Bocklet leads the Virginia attack with 57 points, scoring a team-best 37 goals and 20 assists. Bocklet was added to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List in the middle of the season. Last week, she was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse All-Tournament team after scoring a hat trick in the Cavaliers’ 10-7 victory over Duke in the quarterfinals and adding two more goals in the 13-9 semifinal loss to tournament-champion Maryland. She finished the tournament with a team-high seven points, also logging an assist in each game.

Dunleavy, one of the Cavaliers’ co-captains, anchors the Cavalier defense. In her four-year Cavalier career, she has picked up 55 ground balls, including 16 this season, with 17 draw controls and 26 caused turnovers. She logged her first career assist on senior day in the victory over Virginia Tech. Dunleavy was honored in the preseason by being named to the 2013 Tewaaraton Award Watch List.

Stephens is second on the team with 46 draw controls and fourth in points (29), goals (23) and assists (6). Stephens played most of the season in the midfield, but switched to defense for the final games of the season. Stephens, who earned the Virginia Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Award of Excellence, is tied for the team lead with 22 ground balls and is tied for second on the squad with 13 caused turnovers.

Since 1985 when the IWLCA began presenting the awards, Virginia players have earned first or second-team All-Region honors 121 times.
