CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—Sophomore Virginia diver JB Kolod will compete at the World Championship Trials in Tallahassee, Fla., which start Wednesday (May 15).

The meet serves to determine the spots on the United States’ squad for both the World Championships, to be held in Barcelona, Spain, July 19-4, and the World University Games, to be held in Kazan, Russia, July 6-17.

Kolod will compete on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards. He set the UVa record on both boards during the 2012-13 season and recorded Virginia’s highest diving finish at the NCAA Championships with a 12th-place mark on the 3m boards.

The preliminary round and finals of the 1m event will take place on Wednesday, while the prelims and semifinals of the 3m boards are scheduled for Thursday. The final of the 3m event will take place Sunday. Action for all days of the meet, which runs through Monday, starts at 10 a.m.
