McWilliams and White Headline UVa's Five USILA All-American Selections

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Scott McWilliams and Matt White headline five Virginia men’s lacrosse players who were named to the 2013 USILA All-American team as second-team honorees, as announced by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.

The honor for McWilliams (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) is the second of his career after being named an honorable mention selection in 2012. The accolade for White (Ridgefield, Conn.) is the first of his career.

McWilliams, a junior All-ACC defenseman, finished the year No. 4 in the nation with 36 caused turnovers and picked up 48 ground balls. White, a senior ACC All-Tournament performer, scored a career-best 29 goals and dished out 14 assists for 43 points. The midfielder concluded his career with an ACC Tournament record of 10 goals and 13 points for the event, including seven goals in his final collegiate game.

Virginia placed Mark Cockerton (Oshawa, Ontario) on the third team. The honor is the first for career mention for the junior attackman, who led the nation most of the year in goals, finishing with 49. His 3.5 goals per game currently rank No. 2 in the nation heading into Championship Weekend. Junior midfielder Rob Emery (San Francisco, Calif.) joins Cockerton on the third team after scoring 22 goals and picking up a career-high 38 ground balls. The honor is Emery’s second career nod after being named an honorable mention in 2012.

Senior attackman Nick O’Reilly (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) rounds out UVa’s All-America selections on the honorable mention squad. This is O’Reilly’s first career All-America accolade.

This year’s USILA All-America team marks the first time since the 2005 squad that did not have a Cavalier listed on the first team.
