CHARLOTTESVILLE – Three members of the Virginia track and field and cross country teams were named to the Capital One Academic All-District teams. Mark Amirault, Sean Keveren, and Catherine White were named District 3 first-team selections and are now eligible to receive Academic All-America honors.
Amirault, a graduate student studying public health, qualified for next week’s NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., in the 5000m. An All-ACC honoree after finishing second in the event at this year’s ACC Championships, Amirault was also named to the USTFCCCA Cross Country All-Academic Team.
Keveren, a senior studying kinesiology, was a 2012 honorable mention All-American in the 10000m. He is a four-time ACC Honor Roll selection during his career.
White, a graduate student studying kinesiology, won her second consecutive ACC Championship in the 10000m. A five-time All-American during her collegiate career, she missed an opportunity to earn All-America honors against this season as she missed the NCAA Championships due to injury.
To be selected to the team, an athlete must be a key contributor with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average at their current institution.
