EUGENE, Ore. – The Virginia track and field programs concluded the 2013 collegiate season Saturday during the final day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field.

Mark Amirault was the fourth and final Cavalier to participate in the meet. A graduate student, Amirault concluded his collegiate career in the men’s 5000m, but did not finish the race.

Earlier in the week, Thomas Porter earned second-team All-America honors by finishing 16th in men’s 10000m. On Wednesday, Abbey Karin placed 19th in the women’s javelin, and yesterday, Barbara Strehler placed 22nd in the women’s 5000m.

“We are excited that three of our athletes who competed here, Thomas, Abbey and Barbara, will be returning next year,” said head coach Bryan Fetzer. “Hopefully they learned from their experience in this meet and will build upon it next year as they lead our team.”
