McCarthy Named Honorable Mention All-American

Charlottesville, Va. – Virginia sophomore golfer Denny McCarthy (Rockville, Md.) has been named an honorable mention selection to the PING All-America Team. McCarthy earned All-ACC and All-East Regional honors during the 2012-13 season and qualified for the NCAA Championships where he placed 22nd.

McCarthy led the Cavaliers with a 72.31 stroke average and topped the team in scoring five times during the season. He took top honors at the Northern Open at the start of the season and was the runner-up at the NCAA Columbus Regional.

McCarthy was one of eight golfers from the Atlantic Coast Conference to be named an All-American by PING.
