GREENSBORO, N.C.—Five members of the Virginia softball team have been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Softball Team, the conference announced Monday (June 24). Seniors Alex Skinkis and Taylor Williams, junior Marcy Bowdren and sophomores Megan Harris and Heidi Velk were honored.

Williams was recognized for the fourth consecutive season, while Skinkis was listed for the third time and Bowdren for the second.

Skinkis (La Palma, Calif.) started all 49 games at shortstop for the Cavaliers and had a career-best eight doubles. She recorded eight multi-hit games and had three multi-RBI contests.

Williams (Woodbridge, Va.) started 44 games in the UVa outfield and finished her career with 54 stolen bases, the fourth-most in program history. She stole 10 bases in 2013, the second-most on the team, and recorded nine multi-hit games.

Bowdren (Fairfax Station, Va.) led the Cavaliers with a .309 batting average, 47 hits and 26 runs and was second on the squad with 23 RBI and four home runs. She was the sixth-toughest hitter to strikeout in the nation, averaging 38.0 at-bats between strikeouts.

Harris (Knoxville, Tenn.) started all 49 games for the Cavaliers and was second on the team with 39 hits and third on the squad with a .267 batting average and 22 RBI.

Velk (Murietta, Calif.) started 47 games and led UVa with 12 stolen bases in 13 attempts. She was second on the team with 25 runs scored and recorded eight multi-hit games.
