Charleston, S.C. – Incoming freshman women’s golfer Lauren Diaz-Yi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) advanced to the match play portion of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship in Charleston, S.C. Diaz-Yi will face Desiree Dubreuil of Santa Ana, Calif. in the round of 64 on Wednesday in a match slated to begin at 9:40 a.m.

Diaz-Yi finished tied for 30th following the tournament’s 36 holes of stroke play. She posted rounds of 75 and 71 for a two-day total of 4-over 146.

In June, Diaz-Yi won the USGA’s Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship in Norman, Okla.

Cavalier junior Briana Mao failed to advance from stroke play, finishing 87th at 153, three strokes from making the cut. Former UVa golfer Lauren Greenlief was 133rd at 159.
