CHARLOTTESVILLE –

The television network and time designations for the 15th annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge Presented by DICK’s Sporting Goods on Dec. 3-4 were announced Thursday (Aug. 15).

Virginia’s game against Wisconsin on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at John Paul Jones Arena is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET and will be televised by ESPN or ESPN2.

The Virginia-Wisconsin game is one of six games scheduled for Dec. 4 in the 2013 Challenge. Six other games are scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 3.

The game will mark the second consecutive meeting between Virginia and Wisconsin in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and the fourth meeting overall. The Cavaliers defeated Wisconsin, 60-54, last season in Madison and own a 2-1 record against the Badgers in the all-time series. Wisconsin defeated Virginia, 66-56, in the 1999 Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska. The only other meeting between the two teams came in the Milwaukee Classic during the 1974-75 season when Virginia won 86-78 in Milwaukee, Wis.

Wisconsin finished the 2012-13 season with a 23-12 record and reached the NCAA Tournament for the 15th consecutive season. Virginia posted a 23-12 record and advanced to the NIT quarterfinals.

The Cavaliers have an 8-5 record in the Challenge, while Wisconsin is 6-8. Virginia has won three consecutive games in the Challenge and sports a 5-1 home record in the Challenge.

The ACC and Big Ten split last year’s Challenge with six wins apiece. In the event of a tie, the Commissioner’s Cup remains with the conference that won the previous year, which was the Big Ten in 2011. The ACC holds a 10-3-1 Challenge record, winning the first 10 events (1999-2008), while the Big Ten won the next three (2009-2011).

ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will combine to televise all 12 games of the two-day event. Every game will also be available through WatchESPN, accessible online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app, through ESPN on Xbox LIVE to Gold members and on Apple TV to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.
