Charlottesville, Va. – The Virginia athletics department has launched a social media hub, Wahoo Central, which provides Cavalier fans with an online platform to share their thoughts, experiences and conversations. Powered by Postano, an innovative social media visualization company, Wahoo Central will aggregate, share and push fan-generated content from multiple sources and tools to a single visual platform.

Fans can follow the conversations through a dedicated Wahoo Central link at VirginiaSports.com. The link is located at the top right hand corner of the navigation bar on the website’s home page. Fans can bookmark this URL to go directly to Wahoo Central: www.virginiasports.com/wahoocentral.

In addition to the web portal, fans can follow and interact with Wahoo Central on Twitter at @wahoocentral.

“There is an abundance of conversation about Virginia athletics on social media, but until Wahoo Central, there was not a single, unique community where fans could monitor and participate in the discussion,” said Todd Goodale, Virginia’s associate athletics director for external affairs. “Wahoo Central will allow Cavalier fans to show and share their affinity for Virginia athletics through Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other social media sites.”

In addition to being a social media hub, Wahoo Central features a command center housed in the McCue Center. UVa undergraduate students, with a strong background and interest in social media engagement, will staff and monitor Wahoo Central along with athletics department staff members. The command center features computers and flat screen televisions to review social media content and HD television feeds.

Using the Postano social media platform, Wahoo Central staff will analyze posts in real-time across multiple social media platforms. The best content will be selected to share on Wahoo Central.

Fans visiting http://www.virginiasports.com/wahoocentral will notice three content areas in the upper left side of the page.

• The first tab, Wahoo Central, features a compilation of the best social media content created by Cavalier fans and official athletics department social media accounts.
• Fans can select content related to each of Virginia’s varsity sports or athletics in general in the second tab.
• The third tab features content specific to several Virginia head coaches.

To connect with Wahoo Central, follow @wahoocentral on Twitter, use hashtags, #wahoowa or #gohoos and post interesting UVa-related content to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest.
