Former Cavaliers Earn Four Medals at World Rowing Championships

CHUNGJU, South Korea—Former Cavaliers earned a school-record four medals at the 2013 World Rowing Championships that concluded Sunday (Sept. 1) in Chungju, South Korea.
Class of 2011 graduate Christine Roper earned two medals for Canada, including silver in the women’s four. Roper and Susanne Grainger (’13) were both part of the Canadian women’s eight that finished third.
Competing in the women’s lightweight women’s quadruple sculls, Helen Tompkins (’08) and the American crew took home silver.
Inge Janssen (’10) competed for the Netherlands in the women’s single sculls, making it all the way to the A final, placing sixth overall.
Former UVa volleyball and softball player Meghan O’Leary (’08) was part of the American women’s double sculls that won the B final to finish seventh overall.
