Sarah Holsinger Promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Women's Basketball Operations

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia women’s basketball head coach Joanne Boyle announced the promotion of two staff members. Sarah Holsinger has been promoted to assistant athletic director for women’s basketball operations and Hadley Zeavin will now serve as the assistant director of women’s basketball operations.
Holsinger has served as the director of women’s basketball operations at Virginia for the last two seasons after holding the same position on Boyle’s staff at California for six seasons (2005-11). Originally from Luray, Va., Holsinger spent two seasons (2003-05) as James Madison’s director of operations before making the move to the Pac-10 Conference.
“Sarah has been my right-hand person from an administrative perspective for the last eight years,” Boyle said. “She has helped me build two programs, so this promotion reflects her loyalty and the incredible job she has done along the way. Sarah once said to me ‘my job is to make your job easier,’ and she is honestly invested to do that everyday. There is an enormous level of trust between us, and she knows how I think and what is needed to make our program successful here at UVa. I am so thankful for everything Sarah has done for me personally and for our teams during the time we have worked together.”
Holsinger oversees all administrative aspects of the women’s basketball program, including but not limited to building and managing the annual budget, supervising office personnel and team managers, coordinating team travel and practice scheduling, ordering and managing of Nike apparel, overseeing camp and partnering with the sports nutritionist and head chef to plan and schedule all team meals. She serves as the liaison between the head coach and all aspects of UVa athletic administration including helping to coordinate the team marketing efforts.
Holsinger was accepted to the NCAA/NACWAA Institute for Administrative Advancement in the summer of 2013, the premier “level one” leadership development program for women in intercollegiate athletics administration.
Holsinger graduated cum laude and earned her bachelor’s of science degrees in allied health science and nutrition and wellness from Bridgewater College in 2002. She obtained a master’s degree in kinesiology with a concentration in sports administration and coaching from JMU in May 2004.
Zeavin has served as an administrative assistant for the previous two seasons after serving as the director of women’s basketball operations at George Washington from 2008-10. Prior to her stint at George Washington, Zeavin was the video coordinator for the WNBA’s Detroit Shock from 2006-08, including the franchise’s WNBA Championship season in 2006.
“Hadley brings an amazing energy to our office, and her enthusiasm and desire to help our team, has enabled me to structure her position into something more than a traditional ops position,” Boyle said. “In addition to dealing with office administration and handling recruiting requests, Hadley is working to build a mentoring program for the players as well as serving as an academic liaison. Her tireless efforts in building service projects are making an impact in the Charlottesville community as well.”
Zeavin earned her bachelor of arts degree in sociology and women’s and gender studies from Vanderbilt in 2007. Zeavin earned her master of arts in sport and exercise management from Ohio State in 2008 and served as an intern and tutor with the Buckeyes’ Student-Athlete Support Services Office while working toward her degree.
