Franklin, Tenn. – The 24th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team shot 10-over 298 and ended the first day of play at the Mason Rudolph Championship tied for 12th place. The 15-team field is competing at Vanderbilt’s Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.

Arizona State leads the field at 3-under 285 while UCLA and Vanderbilt are tied for second at 1-over 289.

The Cavaliers were led by Elizabeth Brightwell who shot 2-under 70 and is tied for fourth place after the opening 18 holes. Portland Rosen is in 36th place at 74, Lauren Diaz-Yi is 46th at 76, Lauren Coughlin is 71st at 78 and Briana Mao is 78th with a 79. , playing as a non-scoring individual, is in 46th place after shooting 75.

Alabama’s Stephanie Meadow and Baylor’s Hayley Davis share first place after the opening round at 4-under 68.

The second round of the tournament is scheduled for Saturday and the final round takes place Sunday.
