PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Virginia’s Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) tallied two wins in main draw singles consolation action Friday (Oct. 4) at the 2013 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club.

Elbaba defeated Florida’s Sofie Oyen 6-0, 6-4 and Duke’s Hanna Mar 6-3, 7-6. Elbaba will play UCLA’s Chanelle Van Nguyen in the consolation semifinals Saturday.

In consolation doubles action, senior Li Xi (Kunming, China) and Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas) dropped an 8-6 decision to Rice’s Dominique Harmath and Natalie Beazant.

Virginia’s Caryssa Peretz (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and Marie Faure (Toulouse, France) completed opening day action at the Northwestern Invite. Faure went 2-0 in singles, defeating NC State’s Sophie Nelson (6-3, 6-0) and Northwestern’s Maddie Lipp (6-4, 6-2). Peretz went 1-1, defeating NC State’s Rachel James-Baker (6-3, 6-4) and losing to Northwestern’s Belinda Niu (6-3, 6-2). Peretz and Faure were defeated 6-1 in doubles by Oklahoma’s Emma Devine and Morgan Chumney.
