Charlottesville, Va. – The 27th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team will play its third tournament of the fall this weekend at the Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. The three-day tournament will run Friday through Sunday at the par-72, 6,285 yard Finley Golf Course

The 18-team field includes Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Clemson, Duke, Florida, LSU, Michigan State, Mississippi, North Carolina, NC State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wake Forest.

Tee times begin at 9:09 a.m. off No. 1 tee and at 8:51 a.m. off No. 10 tee on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, there will be a shotgun start at approximately 9:15 a.m.

Virginia’s lineup features Elizabeth Brightwell, Portland Rosen, Briana Mao, Kaira Martin, Lauren Diaz-Yi and Alex Hershberger will compete as an individual.

Last season the Cavaliers placed fifth in the field behind the play of senior Brittany Altomare, who was third overall.

Brightwell currently leads the team with a 71.60 stroke average. Virginia opened the fall with a second-place showing at the Mo Memorial at Texas A&M and was 11th at the Mason Rudolph Championship at Vanderbilt.
