Chapel Hill, N.C. – The 27th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team is in 16th place following the first 18 holes of play at the Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. Virginia shot 13-over 301 during the opening round.

Virginia was led by Portland Rosen who shot 2-under 70 to finish the day tied for fifth place. Briana Mao was 55th at 76, Elizabeth Brightwell was 65th at 77, Lauren Diaz-Yi was 72nd at 78 and Kaira Martin was 84th with a score of 80. , playing as a non-scoring individual, also shot 76 to tie for 55th place.

Vanderbilt leads the field after shooting 3-under 285. The Lady Commodores were led by Antonia Scherer, who shot 5-under 67 to take the first-round lead.

The second round of the tournament is set for Saturday and the final round will be played Sunday.
