CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete for the conference title Friday at the ACC Cross Country Championships. The meet will be held at Beeson Park in Kernersville, N.C., with the men’s race at 10 a.m. and the women’s race at 11 a.m.

The Cavalier men are looking for their first title since 2008 as they compete on the 8K course. Virginia received votes in the latest USTFCCCA national poll and is third in the Southeast Region rankings. The Cavaliers will take on three nationally-ranked foes at the conference meet with Syracuse at No. 14, North Carolina at No. 18 and Notre Dame at No. 23. Virginia last competed on Oct. 4, finishing eighth at the Notre Dame Invitational.

The Virginia women seek their first ACC championship since 1982. The 10th-ranked Cavaliers are among five nationally ranked teams that will compete on the 6K course, as they are joined by No. 5 Florida State, No. 19 Syracuse, No. 22 Notre Dame and No. 27 Boston College. Virginia is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., on Oct. 19.

Following the ACC Championships, the Cavaliers will have two weeks to prepare for the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships. The regional meet will be hosted by Virginia at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va., on Nov. 15.
