CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia senior guard Joe Harris (Chelan, Wash.) is one of 15 players named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy Preseason Watch List, announced Tuesday (Nov. 5) by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA).

The award is to be presented to the national player of the year by its namesake at the Devon Energy College Basketball Awards on April 14, 2014, at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

Last season, Harris averaged a career-high 16.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game and was named to the All-ACC first team by the ACC coaches and Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA). Harris also earned USBWA All-District 3 and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 2 honors.

Joining Harris on the Robertson watch list were Jahii Carson (Arizona State), Aaron Craft (Ohio State), C. J. Fair (Syracuse), Aaron Gordon (Arizona), Gary Harris (Michigan State), Doug McDermott (Creighton), Mitch McGary (Michigan), Shabazz Napier (Connecticut), Jabari Parker (Duke), Adreian Payne (Michigan State), Julius Randle (Kentucky), Marcus Smart (Oklahoma State), Russ Smith (Louisville) and Andrew Wiggins (Kansas).

Virginia opens the season against James Madison on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. at JPJ. Single-game tickets and Family Packages for this game are on sale. UVa’s home game against VCU on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. is sold out.
