CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 12 Virginia men’s soccer team concludes the regular season with a 7 p.m. Friday match against Boston College at Klöckner Stadium. Virginia will hold Senior Night ceremonies prior to the game as it honors its four fourth-year players, Calle Brown (Leesburg, Va.), Cameron Chavira (Roanoke, Va.), Bryan Lima (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Kevin McBride (Fairfax, Va.).

Note: Parking Information for Friday
Free parking is available for the soccer game in the Emmet/Ivy Garage only. Because of the men’s basketball game Friday evening at John Paul Jones Arena, parking in the University Hall, JPJ and Cage lots will be reserved for basketball season-ticket patrons.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for youth, seniors and faculty/staff. Group ticket orders of 20 or more tickets are $4.

Pivotal Match to Wrap up Regular Season
Virginia and Boston College are tied for sixth place in the league standings with 13 points in ACC play heading into Friday (three points for a win, one point for a draw). If there is a winning side Friday, that team clinches the No. 6 seed in the upcoming ACC tournament.

The tournament begins Tuesday with 7 p.m. games at the sites of the top four seeds.

Virginia-Boston College Series
Virginia and Boston College have evenly split their 10 previous meetings, 4-4-2. The matches have been close – only one has been determined by more than one goal.

The sides played to a scoreless draw last year in Newton, Mass. UVa is seeking its first win against the Eagles since Oct. 25, 2009, when the Cavaliers won 2-0 at Klöckner Stadium; UVa is 1-4-2 against BC since 2007.

Last Time Out: UNC Ends UVa Streak, 1-0
North Carolina’s Tyler Engel scored on a rebound in the 11th minute, and the Tar Heels’ defense held the high-powered Virginia offense in check in UNC’s 1-0 win over UVa last Friday in Charlottesville. Virginia’s 11-game unbeaten streak, its longest string since 2009, was snapped with the defeat.

The Cavaliers took a season-low four shots as the Tar Heels’ athletic defenders stymied UVa’s quick attack. Virginia goalkeeper Jeff Gal made a pair of saves, while UNC keeper Stephen Moffitt saved one shot on goal.

High-Powered Offenses Face Off
Both sides boast potent offenses. Virginia ranks second in the conference in scoring (32 goals), while BC is fifth with 28 goals. The Eagles have been shut out just twice in 16 matches, while UVa has been blanked three times.

Virginia Sits 14th in NCAA RPI
Virginia stands No. 14 in the latest NCAA RPI report for the 2013 season. Fourteen of UVa’s 17 regular-season foes are among the top 70, including nine in the top 40. Boston College is No. 80 in the RPI this week.

Noting Boston College
Freshman midfielder Zeiko Lewis leads the Eagles’ attack with three goals and an ACC-leading 12 assists. Junior midfielder Giuliano Frano leads the team in goals with four. Sophomore Alex Kapp became the starting goalkeeper midway through this season. He currently has 31 saves on the year. BC ranks fifth in the conference in goals, but also has allowed 1.56 goals per game.

The eight-team ACC tournament begins Tuesday at the sites of the top four seeds. The tournament shifts to the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown, Md., next Friday and Sunday (Nov. 13 and 15) for the semifinal and championship matches.
