San Jose, CA: What is your favorite memory from all of your seasons with UVa volleyball?
9472184.jpeg spacer.gif Emily Rottman: My favorite memory from all of my seasons was beating Virginia Tech for the first time earlier this season. They are a huge rival of ours so it meant a lot to beat them my final season at UVA. Hopefully we will do it again this Sunday at Mem!
Maureen (Charlottesville): What will be the key to finishing above .500 in conference this season? Please beat Tech this weekend!!!
9472184.jpeg spacer.gif Emily Rottman: In order to finish with a winning season we are going to have to keep up the intensity that we have been playing with and continue to execute at the end of matches. I think if we work hard in practice these next couple weeks good things will come.
Beth: How have you changed since your first year?
9472184.jpeg spacer.gif Emily Rottman: I have changed in a lot of ways since coming to UVA. My first year I was a very quiet player and needed to work on communicating with my teammates. I have worked on this through my years here and it has allowed me to become a better leader and someone my teammates can look up to.
Bob from cville: How does Mem Gym compare to other venues you play in in the ACC. I really like how loud it gets in there and am curious how ours stacks up against the rest.
9472184.jpeg spacer.gif Emily Rottman: Mem Gym is a great gym to play in because of the intimate atmosphere and the fact that the crowd can really get involved in the game. There are other gyms that have a similar feel to them, but Mem is special also because of its history.
Kevin (Cville): It seems like the team is headed in the right direction under the new coaching staff. How do you see this group of student-athletes doing over the next few years?
9472184.jpeg spacer.gif Emily Rottman: I think this program is headed in the right direction and the future looks extremely bright. The younger girls are very talented and I am confident that they will continue to improve and become a very strong team in the years to come. I look forward to coming back to watch just how good this group will be!
Charlottesville: How is playing volleyball in college different than high school?
9472184.jpeg spacer.gif Emily Rottman: The college game is at a much faster pace than in high school. The girls are also stronger and smarter so the level is much higher. Since the players are better it is more important to prepare and scout the other teams in order to be successful.
Jim (Richmond): Any plans to play beach volleyball after college? I know you have the skills to succeed.
9472184.jpeg spacer.gif Emily Rottman: I have been playing beach volleyball my entire life so I will definitely continue to play when I graduate. I think playing on the beach is a great way to get good at all the skills and it can help players train for indoor with jumping abilities and quickness.

Fred (Charlottesville): What will you miss the most about UVa after you graduate?
9472184.jpeg spacer.gif Emily Rottman: I am going to miss so much about UVa because it really is a special place. It will be hard to leave all my teammates because I have become so close to them after all these years. I will also miss the entire experience of playing volleyball in Mem Gym and the excitement that comes from winning a big game in front of a huge crowd.
