CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—Two Virginia divers, junior JB Kolod and sophomore Carl Buergler, competed at the USA Diving Winter National Championships last week at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas.

Kolod (Pittsburgh, Pa.) qualified for the finals on the 3-meter boards and finished 10th with an overall score of 1,154.80 through three sessions of diving. Kolod posted scores of 383.00 and 377.25 in the preliminary and semifinal sessions, respectively, to advance to the finals, in which he scored 394.55 points. On the 1m boards, Kolod placed 13th with a score of 306.20.

Buergler (Arlington, Va.) placed 20th on the 3m boards with a mark of 324.30 and 23rd in the 1m event with a score of 249.45.

The duo also competed together for the first time in the synchronized 3m event, placing 14th with a total score of 335.22.
