CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s lacrosse team is ranked in the Top-10 in all four major preseason polls, entering the 2014 season. The USILA coaches and Warrior/Inside Lacrosse media polls were released today. The Face-Off Yearbook preseason poll was previously released this winter and Lacrosse Magazine’s preseason poll in its entirety was posted earlier this month.

The USILA coaches and Warrior/Inside Lacrosse media polls will conduct a weekly poll through the season, starting with the week of Feb. 17.

Head coach Dom Starsia’s squad features 28 returning lettermen from 2013, including seven starters, from last year’s squad. The Cavaliers went 7-8, reached the ACC Championship final and failed to reach the NCAA Tournament for only the second time in Starsia’s 21 years at the helm of the lacrosse program.

UVa opens its season on Feb. 6 against No. 12 Loyola. Faceoff is slated for 7 p.m.

A composite grid of the preseason rankings is below. Virginia’s 2014 opponents are in bold.
