CHARLOTTESVILLE – The University of Virginia and Boar’s Head Sports Club will host the 2014 ITA National Women’s Tennis Indoor Team Championships from Friday-Monday, Feb. 7-10. UVa and Boar’s Head Sports Club are hosting the prestigious event for the fourth straight year.

Joining No. 14 Virginia (3-0) in the 16-team field are No. 2 Florida, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 4 Georgia, No. 5 UCLA, No. 6 USC, No. 7 Texas A&M, No. 8 Cal, No. 9 Miami (Fla.), No. 10 Duke, No. 11 Michigan, No. 12 Alabama, No. 13 Clemson, No. 15 Vanderbilt, No. 16 Northwestern and No. 17 Texas.

The Cavaliers, who are making their sixth appearance at the event, open the championship against No. 1 seed Florida (4-0) on Friday, Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at Boar’s Head Sports Club. The winner advances to the second round against No. 8 seed Texas A&M or Northwestern, while the loser will play in the consolation bracket.

Virginia has defeated then-No. 40 William & Mary (5-2), No. 44 VCU (6-1) and No. 33 South Carolina (5-2) to begin the 2014 dual season.

Reigning ACC Player of the Week Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) is ranked No. 11 in singles, while sophomore Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.) is ranked No. 28, freshman Rachel Pierson (Princeton, N.J.) is ranked No. 43 and sophomore Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas) is ranked No. 85. Elbaba and Pierson are ranked No. 8 in doubles.

Dual matches are scheduled at 9 a.m., 12 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday with the championship match set for 11 a.m. on Monday. Each of the 16 teams is guaranteed three matches during the championship. Fans can attend the four-day championship FREE of charge.
