CHARLOTTESVILLE – No. 20/21 Virginia (18-5, 9-1 ACC) continues ACC play at Georgia Tech (12-11, 3-7 ACC) on Saturday, Feb. 8. Tipoff at McCamish Pavilion (8,600) is set for Noon.

Akil Mitchell scored 18 points, Joe Harris added 15 and Jontel Evans had eight assists as Virginia overpowered Georgia Tech with an 82-54 win on Feb. 24, 2013.
• Marcus Georges-Hunt led Georgia Tech with 12 points and Daniel Miller added 11 points and 11 rebounds. • A Robert Carter Jr. 3-pointer cut Virginia’s lead to 45-40, but the Cavaliers responded with a 16-1 run over the next 4-plus minutes to take a 61-41 lead.
• In the first half, Virginia shot 53 percent from the field (16-of-30), but allowed Georgia Tech to shoot 54 percent (13-of-24). The difference was the Yellow Jackets’ 10 turnovers. The Cavaliers had only two.
• Virginia led 41-29 at the break.

• Virginia is ranked a season-high No. 20 in the latest AP poll, marking its highest rankings since a No. 19 ranking on Feb. 6, 2012.
• Virginia’s No. 24 preseason AP ranking marked its first since being ranked No. 11 to start the 2001-02 season.
• The Cavaliers, who were ranked for the first two weeks, returned to the rankings this season for the first time since Feb. 27, 2012.

Last Time Out
Malcolm Brogdon had 17 points and a career-high 11 rebounds for his first career double-double in Virginia’s 77-67 win over Boston College Wednesday.
• Brogdon added a career-best seven assists and converted 4-of-4 free throws in the final minute to ice the win.
• The Cavaliers built a 21-point second half lead, but Boston College closed with a 17-4 run.
Anthony Gill and Justin Anderson added 13 points each for Virginia, while Ryan Anderson had a game-high 20 points for Boston College.
• The Cavaliers owned a 40-27 rebounding advantage.

About the Cavaliers
Virginia has won nine of its last 10 games and looks to win its seventh straight overall. The Cavaliers have defeated Florida State (78-66), North Carolina (76-61), Virginia Tech (65-45), Notre Dame (68-53), Pittsburgh (48-45) and Boston College (77-67) since their 69-65 loss at Duke on Jan. 13. A Virginia win against Georgia Tech would match its 10-1 ACC start in the 1981-82 season.

The Cavaliers’ success has been highlighted by its second-ranked defense, rebounding and balanced scoring. The Cavaliers are yielding 56.0 points per game and grabbing 54.6 percent of the rebounds, ruling the glass in 18 of 23 games. UVa also ranks ninth in the nation in field goal percentage defense at 38.2 percent.

Virginia is averaging 66.6 points per game, marking its highest total under head coach Tony Bennett. Virginia is averaging 24.1 bench points and has scored 43.6 percent of its points in the paint.

UVa sports a balanced scoring attack, led by Malcolm Brogdon and All-ACC performer Joe Harris. Brogdon leads the team at 12.0 points per game, while Harris is second at 11.3 ppg. Brogdon has a career-best 10-game double figures scoring streak and ranks second in the ACC in free throw percentage (87.9%), fourth in steals (1.80 spg), fifth in field goal percentage (49.5%) and eighth in scoring (15.4 ppg) during league play.

Versatile guard Justin Anderson, who had 13 points against Boston College, has recorded 9.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Anthony Gill, who tallied 13 points against the Eagles, has registered 7.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Mike Tobey has chipped in 7.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Akil Mitchell has added 6.8 points and a team-best 6.7 rebounds per game. Mitchell is fourth in the ACC at 8.3 rebounds per game during league play. Freshman point guard London Perrantes ranks first in ACC action in assist to turnover ratio (4.8) and fifth in assists (4.3 apg).
