CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The Virginia men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams close out their dual-meet seasons Saturday (Feb. 8) when they host Pittsburgh at the Aquatic and Fitness Center. Diving action will commence at 9:30 a.m. with swimming scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m. UVa’s 20 seniors will be honored in a ceremony in between the diving and swimming at noon.

Admission to Virginia swimming and diving meets is free to the public. Live results will be available and linked through VirginiaSports.com.

The Cavalier women (10-1) are ranked No. 7 in the latest CSCAA national poll, while the UVa men (5-5) are tabbed No. 20.

Last weekend, the Virginia women defeated NC State, 178.5-115.5, while the men fell to the Wolfpack, 157-141. Sophomore Courtney Bartholomew (Holland, Mich.) was named ACC Female Swimmer of the Week after winning the 100 back and 200 back. Junior Shaun Casey (Port Orange, Fla.) and freshman Leah Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa.) also won two events each, with Casey winning the 400 IM and 200 fly and Smith touching first in the 500 free and 1,000 free.

Senior Rachel Naurath (Manakin-Sabot, Va.) won the 200 free, while freshman Laura Simon (Simmern, Germany) picked up the win in the 200 breast.

On the men’s side, senior Brad Phillips (Herndon, Va.) won the 500 free and 1,000 free, while senior Taylor Grey (Willison, Vt.) and sophomore Luke Papendick (Kinnelon, N.J.) won the 200 breast and 200 back, respectively.

On the women’s diving boards, sophomores Becca Corbett (Louisville, Ky.) and Katie Warburg (Wilton, Conn.) went 1-2 on both events with Corbett winning the 1-meter event, while Warburg placed first on the 3-meter boards. Junior JB Kolod (Pittsburgh, Pa.) swept the men’s 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.

Next up, some of Virginia’s squads will compete at the Cavalier Invite Feb. 14-15 at the AFC, while both ACC Championships will be held in Greensboro, N.C. The women’s meet will be held Feb. 19-22, while the men’s meet is the following week Feb. 26-March 1.
