CHARLOTTESVILLE – The No. 13 Virginia women’s tennis team returns to action with a pair of ACC matches against No. 1 Duke and No. 62 Boston College this weekend.

Virginia (5-2) hosts Duke Friday (Feb. 21) at 3:30 p.m. at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at Boar’s Head Sports Club. The Cavaliers will travel to Boston College Sunday (Feb. 23) for an 11 a.m. match against the Eagles at the BC Flynn Athletics Complex.

The Cavaliers are looking for their second win all-time against a top-ranked opponent, defeating then-No. 1 North Carolina 4-3 last season. Virginia, who battled the Blue Devils in a 4-3 loss last season, is 4-56 all-time vs. Duke. The Blue Devils (7-0) claimed the title at the 2014 ITA National Women’s Tennis Indoor Team Championships at Boar’s Head Sports Club.

Virginia is 16-0 all-time vs. Boston College (7-0). The Cavaliers posted a 6-1 win against the Eagles in Charlottesville last season.

The Cavaliers are led by sophomore Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.), who owns school records in the latest ITA singles (No. 4) and doubles (No. 3) rankings. Elbaba is 18-2 in singles and 20-4 in doubles with freshman Rachel Pierson (Princeton, N.J.).

Pierson (18-7) is ranked No. 39 in singles, while sophomore Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.) is No. 53 and sophomore Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas) is No. 107.

Duke’s Beatrice Capra is ranked No. 3 in the ITA singles rankings, while Ester Goldfeld (No. 20), Hanna Mar (No. 42), Alyssa Smith (No. 96) and Marianne Jodoin (No. 115) are also ranked.

Capra and Mar are ranked No. 6 in doubles and Annie Mulholland and Goldfeld are No. 16. Jodoin and Goldfeld are ranked No. 39.
