Charlottesville, Va. – The No. 7 Virginia men’s golf team will play the first of two Spring Break tournaments starting Monday, March 10 at the 17th Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate. The 54-hole event runs through Tuesday and will be contested at the historic Palmetto Golf Club.

The tournament will feature a 6,617-yard, par-70 setup. The first two rounds of the event will be played on Monday. The tournament will conclude with a single round on Tuesday. The Palmetto Golf Club was founded in 1892 and it is recognized as the fourth oldest golf course in the United States.

In addition to host USC Aiken and Virginia, this year’s field includes Akron, Chattanooga, Clemson, 
Elon, 
Francis Marion, Furman, 
Georgia State, GRU Augusta, Liberty, Maryland, Nebraska, 
NC State, Penn, 
Presbyterian College, South Carolina
 and Wofford.

Virginia’s lineup features Denny McCarthy, Ben Rusch, Nick McLaughlin, Derek Bard and Jimmy Stanger. David Pastore will compete as an individual. McCarthy is currently ranked No. 7 in the Golfweek and Golfstat standings and leads the Cavaliers with a 70.25 stroke average.

UVa will remain on the road during the school’s spring break period to compete at the Chris Schenkel Invitational March 14-16 in Statesboro, Ga.
